Our society has definitely grown in the few years since it has been founded with 2014 being the start of our affiliation with LAPD. We aim to continue expanding - establishing a good name for pole fitness in UCL, giving our members more social opportunities and all around growing as a society.
MembershipThe cost of membership this year has been set at £15. This covers:
- insurance costs - access to weekly pole practices - the opportunity to purchases classes - social events - the occasional workshop - and a 20% off at the London Dance Academy for single pole classes & pole-related sessions. You must be a member of UCLU to get membership for the UCLUPFS! - this can be obtained even if you aren't a student at UCL. "We do not discriminate at LDA: everyone is welcome, and yes that includes men too." - LAPD/LDA Practise ClassesOpen practices are held weekly (and all year!) in the Lewis Building Dance Studio, and are open to all levels. In Term 1 they are Friday 1:15- 4:45pm
- However, this may vary slightly week by week so keep your eyes peeled on our FB Page!. (You will need to have attended two beginners classes at least to be allowed to come to these!) "We want everyone that comes to our academy to feel a real sense of achievement; our trainers will bring out your full potential in a safe and positive environment. You’ll learn how to master your moves correctly and safely to ensure your constant progression, as well as learning how to limit the strain on your body, allowing you to progress at your own pace." - LAPD/LDA Never been on a pole before?Remember to bring a pair of shorts, and don't use any body lotion or moisturiser on the day of your class (pro tip: shower the night before)!

Class InformationDuring the Autumn and Spring terms, we run courses in blocks of either 4 or 5 weeks. These courses will be taught by instructors from LAPD, with Beginners to Intermediate at UCL, and Advanced taught at their main studio on Central Street (3 stops away from UCL on either the Metropolitan/Hammersmith & City/Circle lines or the Northern line).
Courses must be paid for in full at the Clubs and Societies Centre Reception on the second floor of the Bloomsbury Theatre Building prior to the start of the course. Beginner classes are 1 hour long and cost £5 per class (e.g. £20 for 4 weeks) Advanced classes are 1.5 hours and cost £7.5 per class. Class levels follow the LAPD syllabus, details of how we'll be running them at UCL will be here or in our Facebook Group. We also have a level guide. If you have to miss a class, you may attend another class (providing that the class is not full). However, we do not offer refunds. If you have some pole experience yet are unsure as to what level you should be in consult the level guide below.
