About the Society
Pole Fitness is a sport that combines many different forms of exercise: dance, gymnastics, endurance/strength training and acrobatics. Although formerly seen as an erotic art, it is now fully recognised as a sport, with the World Pole Dance Championships held every year.
Founded in 2011, UCL Pole Fitness Society is a fitness focused society that is open to people of all genders who want to add some variety to the way they work out! Pole will not only build strength and endurance but also allow you to express yourself and find your inner confidence! We aim to provide a fun, challenging method of keeping fit. As of 2014, we are affiliated with the London Academy of Pole Dancing (aka London Dance Academy), which offers training at over 15 venues throughout Greater London, with their main studio a 5 minute walk from Old Street & Barbican tube stations. All LAPD instructors have formal dance and fitness qualifications as well as extensive pole experience. We welcome all participants; from beginners to advanced, and along with our fully qualified instructors, hope to show you quite how much fun Pole Fitness really is! Anyone who is a member of UCLU can join our society (including affiliate members, from other universities), and all our class details are sent out on our mailing list and via facebook at the start of every term! |
